Leon Colvin is recognized as the southeast's premier colored-pencil wildlife artist today. His subjects range from the delicate hummingbird to the massive gorilla, and his attention to detail provides the realism for which his work is well known. Leon is originally from the mountainous environment of Chattanooga, Tennessee. An inspirational story (Click to Read) described in the Chattanooga Times Free Press provides insight to his motivation. Colvin's move to the swampy areas of south Georgia provided him with a full range of new wildlife to study and include in his work . The shading of the soft petals of many different flowers in the work of this artist is recognized by all for its striking imitation of the natural world.
